Scarlet fever

So Saturday night my Child was treated by a paramedic because their temp was very high and not coming down, they still have this temp now it comes down with calpol and ibroprufen but will jump back up again. I'm going to call the GP tomorrow as they've now had it as well as flu ish symptoms for 3-4 days
Yesterday I found out that a family friends child went to hospital with similar symptoms the same night my child was treated by the paramedic and today has been diagnosed with scarlet fever. The rash didn't appear till today. Do you think it's likely my child has it too, should I mention it to the receptionist just incase?
We see this child at least every week if not more and they are the same age.
I don't want to be that paranoid mother 😂 But I just wondered if it's an important thing to mention

Definitely worth a mention. I went to the GP today with a sore throat and a tenperature. Mentioned a small rash on my chest (which I often get with a virus), she diagnosed scarlet fever. Now it’s all over my arms and scratchy!! In despair fully expecting my 5 year old to go down with it too, apparently it’s contagious 7 days before even any symptoms appear. Apparently it’s rife at the moment.

That's what I thought, though one minute he seems ok and the next the temp sky rockets and he just wants to sleep didn't want to seem like I was being overly paranoid or anything, his eyes are also really red like around his eyes like they are sore is that a symptom at all?

When dd had it her temp was up and down before the rash appeared - what’s his tongue like?

dray9925 · 10/04/2018 22:43

It had like a slight white coating, but no sign of rash or swollen throat, when he was seen on Saturday they said it was a little pink but that's it

Look on NHS site, think the white coating is common. Hope he’s better soon.

I’ve had it as an adult and the sore throat is horrendous. It’s primarily a strep throat so ask for that to be checked out. My niece recently had Scarlett fever and it wasn’t picked up despite the rash so I would definitely ask about it. It’s a bit of an epidemic at the moment
