Baby's eye sight

So ever since my son was born he's never looked at anyone, if you hold him he is guaranteed to be looking somewhere but never at your face or at anyone's face just constantly moves his head about. He only slightly follows objects, it's delayed and it's only occasionally that he can follow it. If you go near him with your finger close to his eye he doesn't blink or flinch, where as most people would blink or do something.
We took him to the GP and she asked us a load of questions and then asked if she could check something and checked his hands and then suggested she thinks there might be something wrong with his cromosomes.. and if it's not that then "hopefully" it's something correctable I.e. something in his diet to cause his delay.

He isn't rolling yet but he can sit up, obviously falls over a bit but he is only 8 months on the 13th. He isn't communicating like he should as he isn't making proper sounds, like baa ca etc. He started talking loads around 4 months then suddenly went quiet for months, until the past week where he's started talking again!
It's hard to make him smile or laugh or to interact with him, but he always smiles and laughs at peppa pig!

Just wondered if anyone ever experienced anything like this? I think maybe it's his eyes and he can't see very well but I don't know!
The doctor sent an urgent referral to the hospital and after the consultant having it for three weeks he finally refused us and has said the doctor needs to send us to the community pediatrics!

I am so upset and worried, they've literally told us there's something wrong with our baby and then just left us, no help no answers nothing!

I didn't want to leave you sitting on Unanswered threads'.

Whereas I understand you are worried, you haven't been 'just left', you have been referred to the experts in your baby's development - the Paediatricians.
Obviously I don't know who the GP referred to (as in, which specialism), but a Paediatrician will look at the whole picture, as in everything about your child's development. It might not be that his eyes aren't seeing, it might be that they are not processing normally. However, you also list other concerns. A Paediatrician will look at the whole picture.

However, all hcps have waiting lists. Your ds is still your ds, just as he was yesterday, and last week, and last month. I know it is a difficult time. Flowers
My advice would be to write down any things that you have concerns about - it is easy once you get to the appointment to forget something, particularly if your little one is crying or grizzly whilst you are there.

Community paed is good place to start.
Ask for referral to hospital eye clinic too.

Write down all the questions.
"Something in his diet" is nonsense unless referring to a specific metabolic condition. Wait for paed and ask for full assessments.

I will write it all down and see what happens. He's still a healthy happy little boy it's just hard being left on that kind of note and not knowing what's going on Sad hopefully the community pediatricians find us an appointment soon 🤞🏻
