Help we're in Italy and DD has come down with a rash

We are in Naples, Italy and DD has come down with a rash of tiny red spots which initially was thought was an allergic reaction. It was on her chest and back but has now spread down her arms and legs. It wasn't itchy but she is complaining it is now. She also has a snotty nose and excema type spots on her face around her nose and mouth.

We're thinking to get some medical help (2 pharmacists have thought allergy but antihistamines are not helping and it is spreading) does anyone have any idea how or where to find an English speaking doctor in Italy, on a public holiday?

Or are we massively overreacting?

Has she had a sore throat recently?

Does the rash feel rough like sandpaper? Scarlett fever has been doing the rounds lately.

It may also be a viral rash if she has a cold.

Personally I'd try and see a dr as one needs SF needs antibiotics. Virus obviously doesn't.

The pharmacy or if your in a hotel should have information about dr.

If not ring the insurance company who can direct you.

She has had a mild sore throat and it does feel rough. But I think she has had scarlet fever There is some green snot too. The rash feels kind of hot on her face, but not on her body.

We're in a B&B and language is proving tricky. Will try the Insurance provider.

Thanks

The rash does sound like a Scarlett fever rash. You could also try the Babylon health app (or other similar ones are out there) where you can do a skype type of call and they send a prescription if needed to the nearest pharmacy. (The app uses gps to find it for you)
I found it really handy when stranded in Cyprus with sinusitis!
Sign up for the monthly service as it’s cheaper, then cancel before the month is up - it works out at about £5.

Yes you can get sf more than once..have you checked for koplik spots in mouth? Measles?

The lady running our B&B was so helpful and helped us find a local hospital. We thought we were in for a very long wait but were seen straight away - no queues whatsoever! The paediatrician gave her some medicine and it seems to have eased a bit, although there was a lot of conferring with other doctors. I haven't a clue about much of it but we managed to understand we have to go back if it gets worse or if there is a fever. And to stay out of the sun.

We have a prescription to get something today now the pharmacies are open again.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Smile
