Anxious mamma

Morning!
My little boy is just over 2 years old.
Don't think he's quite ready for potty training but he will tell me when he has had a poop!
Anyways last night he just had his nappy on and kept telling me he had had a wee over and over again. I put it down at first to him not wanting his nappy on. I took his nappy off and he peed on the floor and started crying.
Put his nappy on and it was full within the hour as he was passing so much water.
So my first thought was UTI although he doesn't have any other symptoms, except distress and passing water and passing so much in a short time- which I think is a pretty big indicator! However he isn't acting unwell.
He is still crying after every wee this morning for his nappy to be changed. I've rang the GP to see if I can get him looked at and he can't see him till Wednesday.
Anybody got any advice on what I can do or if this is sign of a water infection? I'm a first time mum and anxious about EVERYTHING xx

Very strange a doctor not seeing such a young one quicker than 3 days! I'd ring on Monday and ask for a fit in/emergency appointment, or if any other symptoms appear over the weekend such as fever I'd ring out of hours doctor (I'm in Northern Ireland so not sure of exact weekend services in England). I know the feeling of being anxious over everything as I've only one child too and every time something crops up its always the first time of dealing with that scenario. Is he drinking a normal amount or drinking more?

Why would you request an emergency appt for a child that isn't showing signs of being unwell? I think waiting a few days based on what you've said isn't a bad idea, obviously if he starts to show signs of being unwell phone again but what you've said could be behavioural. If he's telling you when he as pood and when he wants a pee and wants his nappy changed when he's wet I would try a potty. He may be distressed because he is becoming aware of the feelings of knowing that he needs to go. No harm in trying and you've got your appt in a few days if it doesn't settle

Seems like he wants to potty train. Take his nappy off and let him use the potty. Stay near the potty all day to catch it. Within two three days he will be using potty.
Doesn't sound like he is unwell at all !

Whenever I have a UTI I need to wee all the time but there is very little wee there so I'm not sure about a UTI.

Could be a bit of nappy rash and the wet nappy is irritating it.

Or maybe he just doesn't want the nappy anymore and is ready to train - I'd try that I think.

I suggested an emergency appointment because the child is obviously distressed. I only have experience of potty training my own child and he was never distressed over weeing on the floor or in a nappy. He would tell me yes but it wouldn't upset him and the fact that op said he was passing a lot more urine than normal seemed that something was off for her child.

Is he very thirsty as well? Or is the output exceeding input iyswim.
