Picking skin around cuticles

DD is ten and constantly picking the skin around her fingers. I’m worried it’s going to get infected.
She has plasters on them at times. They heal, we praise her, leave them off and she picks again.

Any advice on how to help her stop the habit appreciated.

This is often a signifier of anxious tendencies not saying Anxiety at this age so may be worth stepping back and seeing if there's a wider issue..?

As one who does this, I'd try and moisturise. For as long as I can remember, I've had these nasty pieces of skin hanging off and annoying me and that's how I started picking. I was able to stop when I was 14, but started again when I was around 20 when I was working in an office with dry air which dried out the tips of my fingers.

Bar that it's not really likely to get infected. I've never had that touches wood.

I have asked if it happens when worried, if anything happening at school etc and she says no and that she doesn’t realize when doing it.
Was thinking of getting a little pot of her own cuticle cream and teaching her a little hand massage maybe.

I recently started taking a really good quality multivitamin & within 3 days stopped getting the annoying bits of skin next to my nails. I have a reasonably healthy diet & so was very surprised by this. If I stop taking them the bits of skin return. Might be worth a try perhaps?

the skin round my cuticles gets dry the splits and i pick, but i use a cuticle oil round them plus handcream it keeps them hydrates and they dont split
