So my daughter who turned 2 yesterday has had an itchy raised blisterlike rash come and go from her arms, legs and cheeks for the past 3 nights now? Shes had a bit of a cold/virus for around 4 days... I dont know if the two are rerelated. The first night i thought it was hives or something but looked worse when it came up again lastnight so took her a&e where they advised its an allergy reaction or something and gave me piriton for her, which i have been 4 hourly since i we got home at 2am... But still today she went for a nap an hour or so ago and the rash is back up her legs and arms.. What is this?

I dont know how to attach pic or i would..

My son had slapped cheek and it dud this. Back of his arms legs and cheeks came up and down like hives over about a week. With general cold like symptoms.

Why on Earth would you take her to a and e rather than out of hours doctor?

applesandpears56 · 08/03/2018 03:04

It probably is allergy or a viral rash

A rash on its own isn’t a reason to go to a and e - it’s the symptoms around it that matter like is it hot to touch, does the child have a temp, can they breath properly, are they lethargic etc

A and e is for emergencies - like if she had a really high temp and a nasty rash - a rash on its own could wait to see a gp the next day. Or if you had phoned 111 you’d had got an ooh dr appointment for that same evening anyway - and probably have been seen quicker than in a and e!

Dd2 has always come up in hives when her body is fighting an infection and they do come and go just as you describe. Piriton never helped so the gp described something stronger but I'm afraid I can't remember what now.
