Best detergent for baby eczema

Hannah91x · 26/02/2018 19:47

Hi all, so my 10 week old little boy has quite bad eczema all over and I'm wondering whether it's worth changing detergent. I currently use fairy non bio and fairy fabric softener, has anyone got any recommendations?

I am regularly using creams and emollients which have really improved his skin but he's so dry all over. He's also on a hypoallergenic milk.

Thanks for any advice x

Have you thought about trying an Eco egg ? I don't know how they work but they are 100 % non detergent. Amazon have them listed and you could read the reviews.

My DD couldn't tolerate fairy at all. We found that Persil Non Bio was the only one not to affect her. Even at 10yrs old, she can't even sleep in other people's beds without a rash. She's allergic to all fabric softeners.

We use Surcare and Ecover.

Forget about a fabric softner though! But do asd an extra rinse at the end of the wash.

They do an allergen free washing powder in Boots in a grey box which we found was really good

Thank you everyone; I will have a look into all of those, I will try to get one tomorrow and re wash everything. I think I will give fabric softener a miss! Someone told me to buy comfort pure and I remember getting a free sample in a bounty pack but would you just stay away?

Thanks x

I have an Eco egg and it works, but I don't know why! It's amazing. But I use Ariel washing powder for my whites as I like optical brighteners ( no allergy or skin conditions though)

Definitely no fabric conditioner. I hadn't realised that either until the doctor told me. I'd try a more natural detergent like Method, Ecover etc.

Our old gp had a clinical specialism in dermatology, and advised us to avoid anything with Optical brighteners in. Ecover or colour specific products are fine, but fairy (that lots of people seem to like) causes irritation.

Bio should be fine as the enzymes denature at low temperatures in the modern products.
