Hi,
We first noticed a small trace of blood around 4 weeks ago but the next few times was clear, we noticed it again but it was a tiny amount but then around another 2 weeks later he went on his potty on Monday night and there was a lot of blood on top of the poo and 2-3 wipes had a lot of blood on them.
I have pictures but wasn't sure it was necessary to post here?
I took him to A&E at 7:45pm and got out at 12:00am, The nurse did some minor checks on vital signs etc and the doc quickly checked his Bum and said we need to go back to the doctor to be referred to the paediatrician,
Tonight is 3 days after and he actually went 3 times close together, all had blood though it was less than the last time.
we have no idea how long the pediatrician appointment will take so I'm planning on calling the hospital tomorrow to try and find out.
Has anyone else experienced similar before, we thought it may just be tearing but he says there's no pain and he isn't struggling when he goes? He seems happy and fine in himself too.
I've done some research and came up with polyps as a possible answer. We are both worrying even though it is most likely nothing major.
I moved the rant part down as all that really matters is above from here but if you have the time please read on.
Obvs the main reason I'm here is to see if anyone has had similar issues with their child(ren) but do all A&E's up and down the country fail to prioritise children over other non emergency cases such as drunks with cuts etc, I thought it was wrong to simply be in line past a childs bed time, in the day fair enough but even so we all know how difficult young kids can be when confined. A girl who was not local said that her old hospital did prioritise children and a friend said had we drove 20 mins to a smaller hospital we'd be seen within 5 mins rather than the standard 4-5 hours? I don't get the difference in standards if that is the case?
Not to mention the blood soaked sheet in the room once we were seen (the nurse attempted to get it out of sight) and the Doc asking my toddler to lay on the leather that clearly was spattered with blood and when I said that he simply put kitchen roll type paper over it before seeing my face and saying actually can you hold him on your knee. I appreciate they are busy but all I wanted was some peace of mind but left feeling a bit disheartened. Part of that is not getting answers but I guess checking vital signs are OK and referring to a specialist is all they could really do. It all felt a bit of a waste of time and unfair on him even though I know I had to take him.
