Doctors once over

Hi,

Does anyone know if I can request my doctor to do a once over check on my son?

He's 11 months old, doesn't crawl or walk and is quite a tired baby. He was a month prem and came into the world via emergency section as his heart rate kept either dropping or disappearing (I'm not sure which one)

I basically want them to do a check over him and take bloods to test that everything is ok and he's just small.

He only has one formula bottle a day at 4am and due to him refusing milk I've just cut it out other than that bottle and he's on food now and doing baby led. He's quite small must only weigh 7/8kg at most

Thanks
Rachael

Unless there is something to indicate it is needed I doubt they would do anything like blood tests.

You would probably be best talking to your health visitor

Thanks, might try health visitor. Not actually been to her for months though :(

Yes speak to your Health Visitor. You can ask her to refer you to a Community Paediatrician.

Not crawling or walking in itself isn't an issue, but it does sound like he could do with a check up. Health visitor definitely to start with as he should be due his one year check around now anyway.

If he’s not having more than one bottle of milk a day do you give him dairy in other forms? At that age babies should be having 4 forms of calcium a day. So yoghurt, cheese or milk in cereal etc. I wouldn’t worry he wasn’t walking at 11 months. I would speak to your HV if you’re worried.

Can he sit up without support?
You can go anytime to hv ask for a review.
They can refer on if needs be.

Thanks guys, he can sit up on his own yeah and he does try to crawl but can't quite do-ordinate lifting his bum and his heat at the same time so he will put god fingers in his mouth and lay down haha

He has yoghurts and milk in cereal but won't drink a bottle of cows milk on its own.

He can be quite fussy when he wants!

Think I'm just worrying over nothing as he is putting weight on and it a happy little boy who just likes his sleep (2/3 naps a day sometimes)

I felt like lately my son wasn't really himself so I requested a blood test from his gp, she wasn't happy but she said as his mother that's my choice.
If you tell her your really concerned and feel like you need a blood test to be 100% sure he's ok they might give it to you. Besides they can't be sure without a blood test nothing's wrong so it'd be pretty risky to deny your request.
