Foot injury: would you get this checked out?

My 8 year old son 'did a pencil dive' into the shallow end of a swimming pool at the party on Saturday and hit the bottom of the pool with one foot. He seems absolutely fine in himself - eating and sleeping fine, no obvious bruising or swelling - but four days later he's still limping and hardly putting any weight through the foot.
He's not very good with pain and has been known to limp dramatically for several days after a twisted ankle, but I have a nagging guilt. I think he's most likely just bruised his heel. Could it be any kind of break or chip without any bruising or swelling and without him being in constant pain? Is it neglectful to leave it a few more days and see if it resolves?
Am I being neglectful or am I being over-dramatic?!

If he's still showing signs a few days later that it's bothering him, which it must be if there is a limp or weight bareing issue I would get it checked out.
If you have an urgent care, walk in or minor injuries unit near-by may be worth going there as they can usualy do x-rays if needed.
Or GP should be happy to check it out.

Best to be a little over cautious and it be a bit of bruising than leave it.

Minor injuries unit is your best bet. I’m a GP and wouldn’t be able to tell for sure if broken or not without an x-ray so would redirect you there anyway.

Yes, take him to a minor injuries clinic, preferably one with x-ray facilities. I suspect they'll want to X-ray it to rule out a fracture.

Thanks all - I'll check out the level of hobbling after school/work tonight and take him to get checked out if still no better!
