3yo with constant runny nose

My little boy has had a nose like a tap ever since I can remember. Sometimes it's fairly clear, sometimes it's greener depending on whether he's picked up a cold or not usually... never the less it never stops. I've been to the GP and they're not interested unless it's affecting his life eg. the skin isn't broken and sore from constant wiping and he's not struggling to breathe. They did say it might be adenoids, but not wanting to do anything about it until he's older. Has anyone else experienced this with their lo?

I'm afraid I don't know anything about adenoids, but my 2yo has several allergies and has had this. In his case it's what's called allergic rhinitis.

My 4 year old had her adenoids our last year. Before then she was constantly snotty, had frequent ear infections, snores like a hog and generally lived her life as though she had a constant heavy cold. She's been like a different child since the op and can now smell things properly and breathe through her nose. She's barely had a sniffle since.

For some reason the GP's at our surgery were reluctant to refer to ENT. I had to pester a lot, despite lots of prescriptions for antibiotics for the ear infections. When she was seen by the consultant and had an X-ray he said her adenoids were enormous and we could see that she had hardly any gap at the back of her nose because of them.

Do your research and request a referral. I wish I'd pushed harder a year before. If it turns out to be something else then so be it, at least you will know. Good luck!

do you have pets?
damp/mould in the house?
feather/wool bedding?

my guess would be an allergy.
