Am I worrying about nothing? At what point is it OK to worry?

A couple of months ago I saw DS (6) had quite a bad squint in a photo. He said he wasn't doing it on purpose and was surprised himself when he saw it. He doesn't have a squint normally and has had his eyes tested in the past 6 months.

He's been complaining a lot recently about feeling sick - to the point where he's been sent home from school. He hasn't been sick (apart from when it was obviously a bug) and as he hasn't had a temperature I've tended to think he was exaggerating.

He's also had a few headaches which I've had to give him Calpol for.

Today he's been complaining of what sounds like vertigo. He doesn't appear to have an ear infection and doesn't have a history of them.

Now my mind has started racing as I put all of these symptoms together.

I realise I am probably worrying about nothing but at what point is it justifiable for me to worry and take him to the GP?

I would now, just to put your mind at ease. Hopefully nothing, but it's what GPs are there for! X

I would take him as soon as you can get an appointment given that it is worrying you.

You should never feel you have to justify worrying either to yourself or to anyone else. It is perfectly legitimate to worry.

Definitely get him checked out by a doctor, sounds like something is going on - and that is what they are for!

Hope you'll get clarity and reassurance and that your DS feels better soon.

Thanks for reassuring me that I'm not being too unreasonable. I don't have health anxieties and rarely take DC to the doctors but this has me worried. I'll get him booked in for a check.

I would take him to the optician first - gp will probably otherwise send you before doing anything else.
