Urine like pure orange juice?

Ds2 is just 4 and has been unwell this week he was sick Monday night but then was ok Tuesday, he just ate breadsticks banana and water, then Wednesday morning got up and had a little fruit juice and was sick straight away. Just the once. I thought it was strange after going a whole day without, and he was pretty wiped out although had no temperature. As the day went on he picked up and ate some bread and kept drinking his water.
Today he seemed back to normal and has been out for a couple of walks, has played happily and eaten some of things he normally eats. He has drank over 500ml of water and 200 ml of milk, but at bedtime he had a pee on the potty in his room instead of going to the loo as normal and when I went to empty it, it was just like fresh orange juice! I have felt his tummy and below his belly button it does feel quite round which I had assumed was tummy bug related due to the sick, he's not in any pain and still has no temperature. Does anyone know what this could mean as I've never seen urine like this before?

Dehydration?

bobstersmum · 01/02/2018 21:18

That was what came up when I googled it but he hasn't really drank significantly less than he usually does and his pee is normally clear? I suppose just keep an eye on it and push fluids tomorrow and see if it clears up.

If he's got a virus his intestines may not be absorbing liquids as well as usual (so prepare for diarrhoea). Suggest you push fluids today and see if you can get him weeing a lot.

Sounds like he is pretty dehydrated. Spend a day getting as much fluid as possible into him and see how it goes.

His pee was the same this morning and he was absolutely wiped out so I took him to the GP with a sample. He said he is not too dehydrated and he doesn't think it's a tummy bug as been too long in between the vomiting. He was pretty stumped though as to what is actually wrong with him he said his observations are all fine and he expects him to be ok in a couple of days. We came out of the surgery and passed the pie shop and he asked for a sausage roll! As its the first thing he's asked for in days I bought him one along with an isotonic drink and he had both and has perked up loads. He's back to drinking his normal drinks now but hasn't eaten anything else today. He had a poo this afternoon and it was soft and mushy (sorry for too much info!) but had some hard pellet poos in there too, so I'm thinking might have been a bit of a blockage? I have been so worried about him I just hope to God he's back to normal tomorrow.

Where his poo pellets pale coloured by any chance? I’d go back to GP if his urine remains very orange as can (very rarely) be an issue with liver. If it doesn’t settle ask for paediatric referral.

Hi crumbs, no the pellets were dark but the rest of it was very pale?
