Has anyone had experience having their babies tounge tie snipped at this age?
I’m aware it’s normally done in the first few weeks but my daughter only got diagnosed today at 14 weeks.
Very nervous but know it’s for the best and has to be done. I’m just wondering if she’ll be more aware of the pain now/it’ll bleed more.

Poor baby Sad

Hi, my DD's was done at 15/16 weeks I think. It did bleed but it didn't seem to bother her too much, she went straight on the boob and was perfectly happy after that.

We were warned by the LC who diagnosed the tie that having it snipped so late could be difficult because babies have to relearn to use the tongue properly and some of them can be put off feeding for a day or two by the new feeling (and obviously they are not very happy for those days!). We didn't have that issue, though it did take about a week for her feeding style to change.

Hi. One of my dc were snipped at 11weeks6days. I can honestly say that I didn't like it more than them because one person held my dc's head still and the other snipped it. My instincts wanted to get those people away from dc. :-( Dc was fine but we had to re-learn latch positions because we had picked up 'bad habits' from dc feeding in a way to compensate for the tt. We asked a lactation consultant to visit us at home to help us with relearning positions.

Mine had a general anaesthetic at 11mths and it was fine. No bleeding. No problems. NHS in 2005

My little boy had it snipled at 16 weeks. It was upsetting to see him cry but he got over it really quickly and I’m glad he had it done now as he had a 75percent tie and it was pulling his tongue back .

DD1 had her TT snipped at 3 months. No more traumatic than when DS had his snipped at 3 weeks and very little blood. She slept really well afterwards which was a bonus (think a combination of the shock and finally having a really big feed!). Best £200 I have ever spent.
