My son is always unwell

Hi everyone looking for as much help as possible at my wits end here 😭

My son is 16 months old
When he was 11 weeks we were admitted to hospital for 8 days with dehydration as he was unwell and wouldn't keep anything down since then he has been unwell more times than I can remember , runny nose, bad cough, high temp , sickness , diahorea , ear infections ,
Was back at the docs this morning as he was up vomiting for 5 hours last night , was sick on Saturday , twice on Friday had a high temp the week before along with a terrible cough and no energy, been at the doc the week before that aswell round about end of Dec as he was vomiting and high temp but doc checked him over today and he has an ear infection .
Apparently he is just a child who catches everything but I'm fed up of getting fobbed off with viral infections etc I need to know if anyone else children are the same ? Am I over reacting or is my doctor useless ??

Fell like his immune system isn't getting any stronger and he's a wee soul constantly unwell 🤒

Help!!

Sorry to hear your ds seems to be always poorly. Does your child go to a Childminder’s, nursery?

Itsjustaphase84 · 09/01/2018 17:21

Have you tried giving him a probiotic. Once my dc started nursery at 1yo he was plagued with ear infections and decided to get a kids probiotic from health food shops. I gave him probiotic drinks once he turned 2. It might help.

Thanks for the replies - he's never went to a nursery and is always around the same people as my niece who is 19 months so don't understand how he is always unwell 😩

Do you use a lot of
antibacterial sprays?
Are you obsessive about cleanliness?
Do you let him crawl around and play in the dirt?
Did you know the healthiest children live in farms?
Exposure to diet and germs is essential to build up a healthy immune system

I've went through similar situation and my toddler got his antibodies checked which confirmed my suspicions off immune system problem his IGG antibodies to bacteria etc where not at the protective level as his body didn't respond to the vaccines he was given as a baby, he was in and out off hospital with 3-4 infections at a time, theirs no harm asking for referral to pediatrician for his immune system to be Checked I kept pushing and pushing eventually got checked when he turned 2 last April he also had to get his adenoids removed, my little one had to get injections to help his immune system he is also on inhalers as his lungs couldn't cope with repeated infections every month, he was in nursey for 9 months but I just knew he had something wrong

I'm not overly cleaning, my house is never spotless I don't stop him from playing and have never been a clean freak with his dummies ( when he took one ) or things like that ,

Crazylou - defo want to get him checked over because I'm no happy being fobbed off by the doctors all the time when I know somthing is up with him 😩

Trust your instincts cause I did and I was raging that they didn't test him before he turned 2 us mothers know best honestly demand a referral, even for ENT specialists aswell to check ears and throat

beccafindlay · 09/01/2018 19:11

They told me not to give him his antibiotics until I got a urine sample from him so tried to get one n he had diahorea everywhere so they expect me to leave him in pain n not treat his infection until I got one they can jog on !
