Hi
Well I haven't done this for years ... eldest dd is 24 .
My dd aged 7 was scratching in the night ( in bed with me as had norovirus ) .
I've just put the lice comb through her hair and shes infested .
We usually check on a Sunday and have occasionally found one but this is bad .
We missed the last at few Sundays as new do here and she didn't want me too . Wish I'd insisted now.
The metal comb is full in every stroke ... how do I get the buggers out of the comb ! I'm running it under water , using a tissue ect but that's the hardest bit .
I must have them I was itching anyway this week . Unfortunately I have hair down to my waist .

Years ago I was a big believer in the wet combing every night as oppose to treatment but this requires whatever I can buy I think too .
Any tips but welcome please x
New techniques ?
Guess what I'll be going all evening Confused

Well, I always tell people to use listerine because it works- always. However most people seem to want to go with the very expensive and unreliable lotions.

Hedrin once 15 minute one the best one I've used that's worked and quick! (Daughters tried them all 😩)

Hedrin leave in overnight lotion. It's not a harsh chemical it works in physical way on them not a chemical way.
Makes sure to go beyond the hairline all around. Wash out next morning, it doesn't leave the hair greasy, it looks fine after if they need to go to school etc. Then in a good light at window if you can, get some clips, elastics etc and go through each hair section by section. Good daylight really is the best for this.
Pull off any remaining eggs with your fingernails. Get some white tissue and carefully examine anything that comes off to see if it's moving. A magnifying glass or pair of reader glasses is good for this.
Pay attention to hairlines around the sides too.
Repeat the treatment in 3 or 4 days time. Go back over all the hair again. You will see if there are new eggs as they will be together in a patch and very near the scalp.
You could check first all over before repeating treatment, but to be honest you are saving time by just doing the Hedrin again.
It could take 1.5 hours to do the whole head but it's really worth it as if you do it right the first time, you won't have them back.
Check the head all over again about 3 days after the 2nd treatment just to be sure, because if you've missed one or two it'll be groundhog day.

Hedrin followed by the nitty gritty and conditioner throughout the week

(You mentioned having a metal comb, if it’s not a nitty gritty then get one!!!!)

I found the nitty gritty comb didn't take off the eggs if the hair is fine. And you can't see what's in the comb because it's silver. I found the smaller plastic white or pale colour comb best.
