Accommodative strabismus/glasses for babies

Hi,
I just wanted to see if there were other parents of babies with glasses around to share some tips with!
My son has a strabismus in both eyes due to long sightedness and has worn glasses since he was 5months (He's only 15mths though now !).

Can anyone help with tips to encourage him to keep his glasses on? He's mainly good but goes through periods when he doesn't want to wear them at all.
Also, I'm interested to know when they start putting them on themselves?
The Dr has said that eventually his eyes wil correct themselves, If your babies had/have a strabismus, how long did they wear glasses for?

My DD was a little older when she started wearing glasses but she had bilateral strabismus from birth and was operated on at 2 to correct them. I’m surprised you’ve been told that his eyes will correct themselves, my DD has had the op, patching for years and glasses and her eyes still need a further op to correct them again (she’s 7 now). With the op and patching, we were told the younger the better for intervention because they have more chance of developing proper binocular vision if it’s corrected young.
With regards them keeping them on, it’s so hard when they are little! I used to distract her as much as possible when she had put them on - so we’d immediately do some painting or whatever so that she forgot about them. It took a very long time to get her to wear them all day - probably not till school age. She doesn’t have particularly poor eyesight, so doesn’t notice a huge benefit from the glasses.

Thanks for sharing your experience. The Dr said that because it's caused by long sightedness, he will grow into his sight eventually and as long as the glasses are correcting his strabismus, he won't need surgery. We haven't started patching either because both of his eyes are equally bad! He supposedly has very poor eyesight but I can't tell the difference with his behaviour when he has his glasses on or off.
Its still early days for him so I am trying to be prepared that everything the Dr has said could change.
