Would you go back to doctor?

2.5yo came down with a fever on Friday (38ish). Wasn't sure what the cause was to start with but she's had a cough / cold on and off for ages and it seems to be that which has got a bit worse. Didn't get better over the weekend and still had fever Monday so took her to the doctors. Doctor said sinus infection and gave antibiotics.

She is still no better and we are travelling to the other side of the country tomorrow evening for Christmas so I'm just concerned it won't be that easy to see a doctor over the coming days.

She does respond well to Calpol but is no better than last Friday. I'm thinking it must be viral as not responding to antibiotics? Can they do anything for her anyway? Would you take her back or leave it and hope for the best?

The doc did say to take her back if I was worried but I hate to waste their time!

Go back, you’re clearly worried.

Go back. The GP will be happy to see her and it'll settle your worries.

If it helps DS (almost 3) had almost identical symptoms a few weeks ago. Fever for around 5 days (38+) sleeping poorly, lack of appetite, clingy and just generally unwell. It's the first time I've ever been called to collect him from the childminder. I sat with him one morning and we watched the whole of Minions with him laid on my lap and not moving a muscle...

I didn't take him to the GP but I did consult a GP friend and she said she had seen many children with similar the past month or so and it seems to be a severe coldy type virus. Plenty of fluids and alternates Calpol and ibuprofen. He's back go his usual self now
