BF baby not pooped in a week

My 8 week old is EBF and hadn't had a poop in a week. He's passing a lot of smelly wind and he has plenty of wet nappies.
He seems fine in himself other than that.
I hear that this is quite normal for breastfed babies but still a little worried, anyone have experience of this or know is there anything I can do to help him go ( if he needs to that is)

As he’s not moving as such, his bowels aren’t being exercised. It is normally for ebf babies to not poop for days.

A bit of tummy time, and cycling his legs should get him going.

Happy poonami 💩

DD regularly went 12-14 days when EBF. Never less than 8 days. She was gaining weight and fine. We were seeing all manner of Pediatric specialists every three weeks for the first year of her life (born at 29 weeks).

No one was the remotest bit concerned, I remember a cardiologist cycling her legs at one appt!

I missed the lactulose bit, who told you to give that?

It may just be the way he is. Ds2 pooped every 10 days from about 6-8 weeks old until weaning started.

At his 8 week check up the gp prescribed lactulose for him, I have it to him reluctantly one night and he did poop the next day but I'm not sure if that was just coincidence as I had also cycled his legs and been drinking a lot of apple juice.
I think it made him very gassy so I don't really want to give it again,

Maybe this is just the way he is going to be then, less poopy nappies to change on the bright side, but omg do his trumps stink! 😂😬

The problem is that a lot of gp’s don’t really have much experience of what is normal in breastfeeding and beyond 6 weeks days and sometimes more than a week between poops is normal.
If he doesn’t seem distressed by the lack of pooping or in any pain I wouldn’t worry. But yep the wind stinks and be prepared for an entire set of clothes ready for the bin on the dates he does go. It was handy knowing like clockwork when ds2 would go though I just knew not to venture far on the day he would because he needed a bath right after it Grin
