my 8 yr old for the past yr has started getting headaches! sometimes if hasnt slept very well or had a lot of lates nights and early mornings! he starts with a slight headache then is sick if doesnt get calpol straight away and needs a lie down! is it normal for someone so young to have these! 2nd time this yr he has been sent home from school and not allowed in or 48hrs as they think its a sicky bug.

Yes, entirely possible.
I would suggest the GP, there are options for children as young as your ds.

He has my sympathy, bloody awful things!

Yes it is! I had them for years and it took me a while to find out what my triggers were. I also learnt the early signs of one starting and knew i had to get home to bed ASAP.
Sleep is the only thing that presses the reset button and stops a migraine but if you leave it too long you cannot get to sleep and are in for a hell of a time, upto 2 days sometimes for me.
I found out petrol / paint fumes and orange squash! That was back when they used a food coulouring called sunset yellow, i think it's banned now.
I suggest you try to find any common links and also look out for the early signs, squinting with normal light, tingly feeling in your hands ect. ( That may just have been me)
Good luck.

thanks thats good to no! i think the main thing is his sleep! if he gets up rediculously early and didnt go to bed till late! but i will also see if any other triggers! its mad that things like that can trigger them aswel.
