Hey , my baby is 5 weeks and has a cold and a cough. Is there anything you can recommend that I can give him to help ? I've used the Calpol nasal spray but doesn't seem to be helping .

It's horrible when they are so little. You can buy mild vapour rub and olbas that's suitable from birth. Also elevate the top of the cot at night. A bowl of steamy water with a drop of olbas in the room helps. The nasal sprays do make a bit of a difference when they are all blocked up.
The main thing is to make sure he stays hydrated. Plenty of wet and dirty nappies.
He should start to feel better soon but take him to the GP if you are worried about the cough. Good luck x

Brilliant thank you , he hasn't had a dirty nappy since Tuesday , bu5 he did fill up 3 nappies . Should I be worried he hasn't gone for few days? Xx

Is it normal for him not to go a couple days at a time? Does he still have wet nappies?

Scrivs88 · 13/10/2017 14:45

Not really, yes loads of wet nappies , do you think I should phone the health visitor?

I think if your worried phone the GP. Especially because he so little. Doctors don't mind at all checking little ones. You'll need an emergancy appointment. And they will be closed soon so phone sooner rather than later. X
