Fever in night, now it's low?

DD is 4. She had a sore throat at the beginning of the week which lasted a few days but no temp and she was fine in herself. She then developed a cough but again, fine in herself. She woke up screaming at 1am and she felt really hot. Took her temp and it was 41.4 so I gave her ibuprofen. A couple of hours after her temp was down to 38. She managed to get back to sleep in my bed and woke up this morning drenched in sweat but saying she felt better. Her temperature is now 35.4. I've checked multiple times as well as checking mine and DS's to make sure the thermometer is working properly.

Is this normal? Anything to worry about? DD wants to go to school but I'm thinking I should probably keep her off. Any advice would be great.

Keep her off its friday and shes 4, as for the temperature some childrens normal temp is that low, i would keep a close eye and seek medical advice if it drops or goes up again.

Thanks for the reply. Her normal temp is 36.6 so definitely lower than average for her. I'm not sure if I'm meant to be trying to warm her up or not.

Temp has now gone up to 37 in the space of ten minutes. Think I'll call the gp when they open.

I remember getting sent to A&E because sons temp dropped below 35. It rose a bit when we were there.
Happened again although we didn't go to A&E. I realised it was the Nurofen that sends his temp really low.
We asked the GP about it and he says that we don't really live in conditions normally to be concerned about hypothermia (under 35). He also said Nurofen was working well for him!
Always worth getting checked out though as can never be too careful.

Low temperatures can be a sign of sepsis so ignore the rubbish some poster has put about hyperthermia!

Hope you’ve seen gp and she’s ok. If not go back to dr.

Rubbish? I have only said what my GP told me. Also I did say to get it checked out. I also mentioned that we got sent to A&E when my child's temp was low.

We did go to the GP yesterday and she's got an ear and throat infection but he thinks it's viral so not much we can do. He actually said the same about the nurofen doing its job a bit too well and he thinks that's why her temp was fluctuating so much. I'm keeping a close eye though and will get her seen again if she isn't improving or gets worse.
