Ds has swollen penis

He's ten and a half, had it for a few days, visibly swollen round the middle and he says it's very sore. Dh seems to think it's puberty related and nothing to worry about but soreness?

Could be an infection, my DS was hospitalised with similar when aged 4. Can he pee without pain ?

GlitteryBollox · 10/10/2017 19:42

Has he been swimming recently ?
Either way, I would take him to the gp Beiderbecke it gets too sore and infected.

Ropsleybunny · 10/10/2017 19:43

Take him to the GP, as soon as you can get an appointment.

GlitteryBollox · 10/10/2017 19:44

Before obviously, my ipad is a tosser.

BuzzKillington · 10/10/2017 19:44

Get it checked!

My ds had an infection which he kept to himself - of course, it got worse and worse and something that would have been simple to treat, became much more difficult.

BroomstickOfLove · 10/10/2017 19:45

Take him to the GP in case he has an infection.

NC4now · 10/10/2017 19:45

My DS got cellulitis in his penis when he was little. Not sure why but he needed antibiotics. I'm not sure it's a puberty symptom if it's been like that for a couple of days.
Get him checked out.

123bananas · 10/10/2017 19:48

Probably balanitis if it is the glans that is red and inflamed, generally treated by anti fungal or antibiotic treatment and maintaining good hygiene. If he is having problems urinating with it it needs seeing urgently so phoning 111 would be appropriate, otherwise emergency go appt in the morning. If you are not sure about what to do 111 will help.

StealthPolarBear · 10/10/2017 19:52

Thank you. It's not red or hot and no problems weeing.

Could it be paraphimosis op, if so it may need urgent treatment.

Phimosis and paraphimosis.

TooCoolForScool · 10/10/2017 22:44

You need a Drs opinion asap. And of course it isn't puberty related so I wouldn't listen to your husband

lozzylizzy · 12/10/2017 20:03

Definitely get him into the GP! Puberty doesn't cause swelling, redness and pain!

autumnrainandbooks · 12/10/2017 20:04

Why are you both looking at your 10 yo's penis?

Bonez · 12/10/2017 20:04

@autumnrainandbooks I'd assume her son told her it was sore and swollen?

autumnrainandbooks · 12/10/2017 20:07

Fair enough! Was imagining both parents peering at it Grin

StealthPolarBear · 12/10/2017 20:36

Hmm what an odd question..
Thanks for the advice everyone, he has been to GP, g has antibiotics and is much better. Back to normal in fact which is lovely to see
