Persistent ear infection

My 3 year old has had an ear/sinus infection for the last 6 weeks. She has been very emotional and not at all herself, one ear drum is bulging while the other is left with fluid we've seen two GPs and she's on her second course of amoxicillin - 3 days in. She vomited in bed on Sunday night prior to me filling the 2nd prescription for antibiotics (dr advised me to wait to see if it resolved in a couple of days and if not then to give the antibiotics) and was complaining of ear pain on Monday.

She's so very miserable, not at all herself, very emotional, shes not eating much - just drinking lots of milk, she's not had a fever apart from a couple of mild temps a few weeks ago.

I'm taking her back to the GP today, I'm more worried about the change in behaviour, she improved rapidly after 24 hours on the first course of antibiotics but after the course finished the pain started again. This time there was no such improvement.

Anyone got any ideas on how I can help make her more comfortable? I'm giving nurofen to help with the pain but she's still complaining.

Have you tried paracetamol?

Nurofen and panadol - alternating within normal dosing schedule. She's started with nasty diarrhoea today and vomited an hour ago, not sure now if it's the ear or a complementary case of gastro just to keep me on my toes. Gp says ear not bulging any more but still red and sore as are tonsils and to keep up with antibiotics.
