First time mama asking simple question. My baby's a week old now and i'm just getting used to everything, one thing that stresses me a bit is the whole temperature control thing, i take a room thermometer with me in every room (house seems to be between 21.5-23.5 degrees celcius) so i'm trying to figure out what that means in terms of his clothes at night and in the day. Whether he needs a blanket on him too, what's the done thing? Thank you :)

I think there's a general rule of thumb that a small baby needs one more layer than an adult - so if you're comfortable in the house wearing a t-shirt, baby should be fine in a t-shirt and a cardigan or a t-shirt and a blanket. Feel the back of your baby's neck. If it's warm he or she is probably fine. If it's sweaty he or she is a bit too hot. Babies often have cool hands and feet so this isn't a helpful guide.
I really don't think you need to worry too much in the daytime. The only real danger is of baby overheating at night, so I would err towards not wrapping him or her up too much at night - they will let you know if they're chilly!
Hope this helps...
