Blood in baby stool! Similar experiences?

Hi all, I'm a FTM and my EBF 10 week old has had small streaks of blood in her stools which have also been really mucusy! I have been to the GP on two occasions about it, both times I've have been made to feel stupid and like I'm overreacting... Which has left me feeling even more upset about the situation. I pushed for a referral to the paediatrician which we are now awaiting for an appointment.

Has anyone had any similar experiences with their LO's? I just want to know she's okay.

TIA.

Yes, i did. It was an allergy to milk protein (dairy). Diagnosed by a more serious reaction to ice cream at 8 months.

He grew out of the allergy by age 3 and is now a very healthy 11 year old. Smile

Same as @Barbarian with DS. Lactose intolerant. Moved onto dairy free formula (Nutramigen) and it cleared up straight away. Slowly introduced dairy back into diet around age 3 and all good now (age 9). Bit gross Blush but I took photos of his nappy to show the dr, which led onto an appointment with the paediatric consultant. She stuck her finger inside DS bum to feel for lesions and once removed he fired mucusy, bloody poo all over her suede skirt. Instant diagnosis! Good luck.

Your doctor sounds like a real dick. What blind of mother wouldn't be worried.

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences, and so glad to hear you have happy healthy children - I had been assuming lactose intolerance was the issue.

I agree re assessment of the GP - awful experience with both GP's.

My DGC was admitted to hospital at 2 months with this. Turned out to be blood from DIL's cracked nipple. Once LO fed just on the other side it stopped and the nipple healed. They were told it's quite common but it was amazing how much blood. Hope yours is something as straightforward.

My DD had this, paediatrician adopted a wait and see approach (after physical exam) rather than me cutting out dairy. It went away by itself and still no idea what caused it.
