Tips for persistent spots

Hello,

Both my daughters are bothered by spots on their faces. They are aged 16 and 13, and fed up of me telling them that they will probably get better in a few years ( I know they might not!)

They are very good with face washing routines and cleansers, indeed the youngest has some cream on prescription which has had no effect.

They have a good diet but will snack on unhealthy stuff too- but I don't want to prevent them eating what they want to at their age.

I am basically asking Mumsnet for your best tips or suggestions which might help to clear up their complexions.
Thank you all in advance!

Tea tree oil was good and toothpaste(!) to dry out big ones but my spots were a long time ago so I'm sure there's some better tips around!

I found the Clinique stuff to be borderline miraculous -- however, I know that others here haven't. The reviews on the website talk about how the stuff works when even medication hasn't. I really found that to be good. You can get the little tester sets that are less expensive, to try first. Wish them luck, I know it is rubbish.

For me a combination of Liz EArle cleanser (which I know is quite expensive) and running or a class that makes me really hot so all my pores get flushed through.

I would take them, if they are botheres by their skin, to the GP.

There are many treatments to try - clearly face washing isn't enough.

I suffered terribly as a young teen and was teased a lot at school, so this is a sensitive subject for me.

Have they tried products containing salicyclic acid? I really rate the neutrogena ones.
