Fever in toddler

Need some advice as I'm rubbish at this stuff. Ds 3 temp is moving between 38.1-38.5. He had calpol at about 4pm. It hasn't brought it down really and he's so hot to touch. He won't drink any water but has had some ice lollies and a smoothie.
He's grumpy and irritable (as expected) I'm just not sure what the next step is as temp isn't coming down much? This is the first proper temperature we've had, and he's never ill so I don't know what to do?

I wouldn't be giving him calpol or neurofen in anticipation of raised temp. It's his bodies natural response and will help kill the virus. Try not to give medication if possible (obvs give it if he's miserable).

I would let the fever do it's job. It is natural. Unless in pain painkillers not needed. Defo not about the numbers...it is about how bubba is in himself.

He's cooled down a lot now. Had a major panic a little while ago when 2 red blotches appeared on his arm, I was freaking out, turns out they were pressure marks from where he was lying Blush heart was in my mouth for a moment. I've never grabbed a glass so fast.
He's fast asleep and apart from fighting with him to get fluid in him, we're doing good.
Kids sure do love to worry you, I don't like this illness thing!

Keep on with the ice lollies and innoncent smoothies.... Any kind of fluid. Yogurts. Anything.....

A child with a temperature shouldnt have just a nappy on. A vest of some sort. Even a little pair of shorts....
