Leg pain - 2 year old

I need some reassurance as dr google comes up with some scary diagnosis! I know no one can diagnose but...
My daughter keeps getting pain in her right leg and last night it was pretty awful- she was crying out in pain. It doesn't get worse when I rub it, she can walk, run, jump, climb but over the last couple of months has repeatedly complained saying that it hurts.
I'll take her to the gp but there's nothing to see and am pretty sure they won't do much. Any ideas?

My daughter had this from about age 3. She was fine most of the time and healthy but used to cry especially evenings and in the night. I asked the doctor after she had been complaining for a month or so. He just said it was probably growing pains. They did check her vitamin d levels. Low vitamin d can cause aches and pains and because we tend to use suncream for the bit of sun we get in the uk we can easily be deficient. Her levels were OK and the doctor just said if she is otherwise we'll then don't worry.

She is 8 now and still gets leg pain a few times a month. I also suffered with it as a child.

I would definitly take her to your GP as it's always best to get things checked but just wanted to say that in my daughters case Dr Google was wrong. Good luck.

Thanks, that's reassuring. I think her vitamin d levels should be ok - she spends a lot of time outside!

I'll get her to our gp after the weekend.

When DD is really exhausted it manifests in leg pain at night. I'm similar. It can disturb her sleep so I give her calpol at bedtime for 2-3 nights so she gets good rest and is then usually fine.

I would check out also rheumatoid arthritis. My friend had it on her right knee since she was 2. In her mid 30s now. Takes a simple blood test as far as I know but it may not be the first thing that comes to mind

Thanks - I'll take these ideas with me when I take her to the surgery. The pain last night was pretty awful - she was crying out and couldn't sleep. There's been occasions during the day when she's needed carrying as it's hurting. Just been going on too long now.
