Concerns about Adult son weed usage

Hi please could anyone offer me some advice. My son who is nearly 25 years old has used weed recreationally since his late teens. At first I was not overly concerned. However he now smokes it nearly all the time when he is not working and is spending approximately £20 a day. I have no experience of any kind of drug use is this usage normal? When he does not use because he has run out of money he is irritable and moody. When I refused to lend him money so he could buy some let's just say he wasnt very happy!! Do you think he has a problem and needs some help? Thank you

Certainly has a problem. Could he be self medicating with it to hide any problems he has?

Not normal, and he definitely has a problem. When DH used to smoke he would spend £20 and that would last 1-2 weeks. He has an addiction and it needs to be addressed asap.

Thank you...I thought so but just wanted it confirmed before I addressed it. 😔

£20 a day is a lot! My weed-smoking friend says his habit cost £10 a week. I guess that's without tobacco etc, but even so..
If it's strong weed then there's not much reality time, so that is why it's bad.. Imagine being in drunk mind all the time.. It depends on what is making him irritable as I remember many near psycho work colleagues who would get irritable nasty and bitch every single day, so if he only smokes tobacco with weed, then it's more likely to be the nicotine than the weed.
Smoking too much affects sleep and dreaming.. When you stop dreams can be very vivid and disturbed sleep is normal, so this might be having that effect too.
