How to get a splinter(?) out of a foot?

My DD has a small, raised lump on the sole of her foot, on the fleshy part just next to the base of her second toe. She has had it for at least a week, probably longer. It is not quite a blister (no visible centre to it), and it doesn't look like a veruca or a rash. It is redder than the rest of the skin on her sole.

It doesn't hurt her to walk, but it does hurt to touch it, and although I cannot see anything in it, I suspect she has something in her foot. But, as nothing is visible or sticking out of the skin, I am not sure how treat it? I have tried savlon and sudocrem to try and encourage something to happen, but so far nothing. I don't want to go digging around with a needle, as nothing is visible.

She is a keen dancer and has a couple of auditions coming up, so I don't want to make it worse and cause problems for her dancing. It is bothering her, though.

Any ideas on what it could be and how to treat it??

Thanks.

Magnesium sulphate paste from the chemist.
Make a poultice and leave on overnight. That should draw the splinter out so you can see it and then you might be able to pull it out with tweezers.

Yup magnesium paste overnight under a plaster, it's awesome stuff. Don't know how it does it but if there's a splinter etc that will draw it out.

maybe have the pharmacist look at it. They are actually quiet good as first point of contact.

Perfect - just the advice I was looking for!

Many thanks.
