Grow out of gag reflex?

DS is 4 and generally a healthy and happy boy. From age 18 months to 2.5 he had issues with his tonsils and adenoids which caused weight loss, frequent choking and vomiting, sleep apnea etc - this was finally resolved when he had them removed early last year.

He's bounced back amazingly but still has a very sensitive gag reflex - food seems pretty fine but the sight or smell of his brother's poo sets him off, dead animals, blood...this morning he threw up his breakfast because he saw a bit of egg in the compost.

I'm not too worried, I guess he'll never be a vet or a paramedic but I wondered if this is something children can outgrow or if it's just how he is now? Has anyone else experienced a sensitive gag reflex in a child?

I am nearly 30 and still have a strong gag reflex. It's never caused much issue in my life.

I still have a problem - main issue now is for dental appointments which have to be at the hospital.

Sorry only just saw these replies! I agree it's not a huge problem and thanks for the reassurance. I guess it's just a bit of a pain for him, even thinking about poo (i always stand him a few metres away and tell him to look in the other direction when I pick up after the dog) has him upset and spitting to clear his mouth. Hopefully he won't develop a desire to be a vet and it won't cause him any problems! Parker he's fine at the dentists, sorry to hear you have problems but sounds like they're able to help you work around it.
