Been trying to get my son in to the doctors and can't get in until next week. His arms legs and back have loads of white marks all over them, as if it can't tan. Does anyone know what it is/called? Pictures attached aren't great, he wouldn't stay still

Vitiligo! A disorder where the skin lacks pigment in patches x

KentMum2008 · 11/08/2017 09:16

Definitely looks like the start of vitiligo to me.

loveastorm21 · 11/08/2017 09:18

Is it a problem? Do I need to do anything or is it just something we live with? Thanks

I would agree it looks like vitiligo. Other possibility is pityriasis versicolour although this would start as scaly patch first.

loveastorm I'd still book a GP appt, but there isn't a treatment for it as such. It's more for the Doctor to confirm (or rule out) that's what it is.

I had vitiligo when I lived in hot country. Was told exposure to sun made it worse and was given some sulphurous cream which got rid of it.

It was a long time ago and mine were smaller and more defined than those in your pics, more like reverse freckles.

Could also be a fungal infection.

My Dh has had similar recently. Looks exactly like vitiligo but dermatologist advised
It's a fungal infection. He has been told to use nizoral anti dandruff shampoo to shower in and it has actually cleared up completely
