Talk to me about eczema in babies/toddlers? What should I be doing?

My baby has just been diagnosed with eczema. I would like to help limit it for her if possible. I suspect that the trigger was either chlorine (it started the same week as her first time swimming) or switching from non bio liquid to capsules. Does anyone know if chlorine can cause eczema? Or is it more likely to be the washing powder (even though we didn't change brand just switched to capsules)? What can I be doing to help avoid further bouts and to help her get rid of this bout? Dr has given her some steroid cream and told me only to bath her twice a week. What bath products are good? Can food cause eczema? She's about to start weaning so should I be looking out for any foods that trigger it?

I'm totally clueless about this (in case you couldn't tell!). So just wondering if anyone else who knows more can offer hints and tips. Thanks so much!

Don't know if you'll still be watching this thread, but I can tell you what worked for us.
Food was a big trigger - dairy, wheat, eggs, sesame. If I'd known about the eggs before he was 6 months it would've made a massive difference to not have those proteins in my breast milk, and I now know they are one of the biggest triggers. Sodium laurel sulphate also. Pet hair. All washing powders except method or ecover. Dust mites.
Both boys suffered badly as babies, but both had very different types of eczema - number 1 was dry and scaly, number 2 was wet and weepy. It was a complete process of elimination. Supplements helped, as did homeopathy with no 1, but not no 2.

hth :)
