Hi,

I need some advice. My daughter has always suffered with reflux from a young age (5 weeks) it was awful. Anyway she grew mostly out of it by walking age altho it did flare up sometimes.
Any way growing up she complained alot of stomach aches and would sometimes have an 'attack' after eating something that meant she had to run to the toilet to be sick or do a poop.

At the beginning of July she had a sickness bug and was very sick at both ends for 24 hours, since then she seemed to recover but suddenly a few weeks ago was sick everywhere again.

Then last night she started crying at 9pm and said her stomach hurt and sat on the loo for 3 hours, she wasn't sick but did managed to poop.
This morning she said it still hurts and she now has some diarrhea.

Her breathe STINKS!!! and has done for a few days, she is also coughing alot and sounds bunged up but doesn't have a cold.

We think she is allergic to lactose and try to avoid dairy items so not sure if something has set it off, or it's a hang over from the sickness bug or reflux?

Does anyone else's kid have a similar thing?

Of course the doctor's have no appointments not that they would do anything anyway.....what would help her that i could buy at the chemist?

My dd went through a stage of stomach ulcer like symptoms and ended up quite poorly. Not the same as your dd, no sickness, but repeated central stomach pains and feeling sick but one doctor recommended at one point whilst waiting for hospital app for her to go on a strict bland died. She lived off plain rice chicken and carrots Grin avoided all the provoking foods like tomato's onions chocolate ect and went low fat. We also tried lactofree milks ect. We did attend a fair few emergency doctors appointments but mainly saw nurse practitioners however we did get refered to a peadiatrician too eventually. Not that anything was really diagnosed as such, had a spell on mebeverine for cramping then omeprazol for reflux and later stomach migraines were mentioned when they sugested another medication which we put off. Whether the omeprazol clerared something up I am not sure but was a terrible time. We got so desperate was considering going private for a camera and discussed this with pead who I think would have concidered it after other options maybe. They tend to try all the drug options first which I don't like messing dd's body up as very allergic to things. I would suggest emergency appointment on same day for your dd sooner rather than later, they can start by arranging hyplori test which can cause reflux aswell as any other bloods to check for relivent things. Dd had a stool sample done too so worth getting her checked properly. They may suggest omeprazole which can clear/heal ulcers and deal with reflux, I don't like some of these drugs but dd had it short term when bad. Phone your doctors and state she needs to be seen that day. She may even be allergic to something or like you say lactose intolerant. Goodluck Flowers

There is a sickness bug that leaves the person effected with a temporary (can be over a year) dairy allergy. That's worth investigating.

My dd (10) is prone to stomach/gut things, any virus seems to hit her gut first (she's had a blood test for coeliac disease, which came back negative). A few months ago she had food poisoning and since then her gut seems more unhappy, bouts of diarrhoea , nausea, stomach pain and burping. The GP said that the gut can take many months to heal after a bad tummy bug, but she's having a stool sample tested, to rule out giardia as apparently you can get that in the UK (I'd assumed it was something one contracted abroad). I'd ask for a stool sample to be tested, and have her tested for coeliac as that can cause some of the symptoms you are mentioning. She can also have blood tests for a milk protein allergy.
