Sytron (Sodium feredetate) for mild anemia in 8 month old

So we have recently found out that my DS is mildly anaemic, he was born at 37 weeks and weighed 4lb 11. He was prescribed Sytron 5ml a day. I am having such a hard time getting it down him as he just spits it out. Ive tried everything to try and stop this including squeezing mouth together and blowing so he will swallow Sad.

Does anyone know if we can put it in a yoghurt or some food? How essential is it that he has this medication? Now he is weaning, will he not just get iron from his food? He has 2x 2.5ml doses once in morning and once in evening.

Its fine to mix it in his food or milk. It might he once he starts eating he will get enough iron from food etc alone but i'd give the sytron mixed in food etc a go first as at this stage theres no guarentee he'll take full portions of food etc and will still prob be getting most of his calories from milk. Maybe google high iron weaning foods though so you can give him those as well to help get his levels up. If youre really strugglibg though speak to the gp again about how inportant it is that he has it, but i wouldnt stop ot without speaking to them first.
