Hi. My 27 month old dd has had chickenpox for 6 days and has had a 40degeee temp for the last 5. It comes down with calpol for a few hours but spikes back up again. Doc says it's normal till she's completely over it. But it's not what I've read. All on line information says temp should have settled by now. Even though she's up and about (not eating much at all but drinking) A little worried tbh. Anyones dc had experience with chickenpox with long periods of high temp?

My DD had awful chicken pox with a 40+ degree temperature when she was 9 months old. It lasted about a week. We didn't seek any medical advice. DS had had CP a couple of weeks before, and then bronchitis. GP was not that interested. He wasn't queue as I'll aa DD was though. We were away when DD got ill, I probably would have sought advice had we been home.
Within a few days she developed bronchitis.... not sure really whether the high temp was to do with the CO or bronchitis.

Thanks for the reply.9 months is so young poor baby. Feel a little better knowing it's not unusual for the temp to be high for this long.

I went again today. To a different doctor. She said one of her spots are infected Sad. She's been prescribed strong antibiotics. That stupid emergency doctor I took her to didn't even bother examining her. Anyway glad for mn advice and motherly instincts.
