How many fevers are normal?

It feels like my toddler is always ill. He had a high temperature 6 weeks ago, and again 6 weeks before and again now.

I have half anxiety and I really struggle when he's unwell.

Does he go to nursery/day care? They seem to always get ill from the other kids.

That doesn't sound unusual. Do you know why he had the temperatures or is it the general "viral"

I've got 3 dc. Dd1 has rarely been ill. She had a few little temperatures as a toddler, but nothing to note. She's 16yo now and rarely ill.

Dd2 had a period of about 6 months where she seemed to lurch from one to another. So she had ear infection followed by tonisilits going to conjunctivitis etc. Lots of different ones. She does tend to have slightly more illnesses than dd1 even now as a teen, although she suffers from migraines too.

Ds just had ear infections. And then some more ear infections. And then a few more... These came out about every 10 days from 12 weeks until 20 months (when he had grommets. When the grommets came out he went back to ear infections and had 8 burst ear drums in 2 months. Hence 2nd set of grommets).
He now doesn't often get ear infections but he seems to pick up other things-he does a vicious viral rash (non-fading often, sometimes widespread-he's very good at blood tests now) and tonsillitis really floors him.

Some children just seem to pick them up and some don't. Even when dd1 caught something she had it mildly (except pneumonia, when she was really bad). If ds is ill, he is really ill. If I phone my GP and say he's ill then I get seen quickly.

But they all had a toddler phase of picking things up, and really every 6 weeks doesn't sound bad at all. if it's always the same thing then it's worth keeping an eye on it that it isn't showing some issue (with ds it was glue ear) but t chances are they're just developing their immune system.

About 10 infectious illnesses a year on average at that age, some people have more, some less. So every 6 weeks sounds about par for the course.

Thanks so much for the relies! Good to know it's not crazy out of the ordinary.

It's so exhausting, his behaviour takes a real hit when he's under the weather so it's rubbish for him obviously and rubbish for us too.

I actually find the illness one of the hardest parts of parenting.

Hey I have a nearly 3 year old boy. I hear you. It seems one thing after another here with being poorly. All since starting nursery. X
