hi i wrote in a few weeks ago about my daughter bum shuffling and her feet turning out when attempts to stand and walk with walker! well today my health visitor came and basically said yes her feet actually look like they turn in a lot and said shes going to send her to pysio as she thinks she may have hypermobility and weak ligaments! any other little 1s had this and what happens at pysio? is there anything i can do to help her while we wait! we are ringing a private pysio tomorrow as i no its a very long waiting time and i think we have already waited long enough!

Does she walk unaided at all yet?

We were referred to physic and they said 'yep hypermobile- go swimming/to soft play a lot' come back when he's four IF you are worried.

But by the time we saw them DS was walking, if she's not then I would imagine they will give you exercises to do with her to help strengthen the joints.

Look for supportive shoes. Particularly around ankle support.

lovemybabies3 · 24/07/2017 21:18

no shes not walking! she has only just started pulling herself up standing nxt to couch and things! when she walks holding our hands her right foot leans quite far in and drags alittle!

My DS LOVED physio, just playing games for half an hour, lots of fun toys, nothing scary or to worry about. In fact I think DS was sad when we stopped going!

Hi, my DD is two. She didn't walk until 21 months and has only just started to become more confident. I'm glad the health visitor took you more seriously. I took DD to see her at 19 months as not walking and it looked like a problem with her left foot and leg and she said I was panicking over nothing. Anyway at her 2 year check they are referring her to a specialist as her leg foot clearly sticks out and her left leg always seems to drag behind. Silly health visitor I seen originally

I have no advice as such. But I just wanted to say she will probably get up and walk one day and take you by surprise. My DD took ages but randomly took her first steps one day!

thankyou for replying! yes its took my health visitor a long time to actually come and see me! but now we have to wait for the pysio apointment to come through now! which iv been told could be a while! i really hope she just gets up and walks! shes getting so frustrated.

Try Piedros orthopaedic shoes or Kickers for normal supportive shoes?

LottieDoubtie · 26/07/2017 09:53

We had startright boots which were very supportive. The shoe shop might tell you that you don't want them before she's walking but you do!

Also google shoe shops for hypermobile kids in your area. There is a specialist shop nearish to us that give good advice.

I'd guess your GP could refer you to one might be worth an appointment to ask. Otherwise have a look for the poshest local FB mums group you can find and ask on there!
