Two year old complaining of sore leg

Hi my DD(2) has been complaining of a sore leg since Tuesday. She normally will walk everywhere and we stopped using a buggy a while ago, but she was asking for it today when we went on a day out. She's had a temperature on off for a few days and hasn't eaten very much this week especially, although her appetite isn't great anyway lately. But today as we were out for a good few hours I noticed she started limping on the leg she was saying was sore. There's no obvious bruises and I can't think she's had a fall. I had to work extra this week so today was my first day off with her. My mum and MIL looked after her and said she mentioned her leg but only once and quickly distracted.
I will make an appointment Monday as I am worried, but does anyone have any ideas?

I only mention the neurologist as I'm seeing one for/with my DS next week and they're signs we have been told to watch for.

It's with the same GP again. He said that if there was no improvement he would sent us up to pediatrics for bloods. I mention the radiation coz im terrified that she has leukaemia caused by radiation. I know I'm a terrible worrier when it comes to her. But honestly we are barely ever at the doctors. She is usually a hardy wee person.

In understand the worry, I honestly do. But I'm sure it's not that.
Mention it to your GP tmr and I'm sure they'll reassure you. Xx

Ask for basic blood tests and referral to paediatrician.
If you see gp in the morning they might be able to get you Into urgent paediatric referral clinic same day

Did the GP suggest irritable hip?

About a fortnight ago my son developed a limp (no previous injury). He had had a cough and cold for a few days before and a slightly raised temp. We were referred from the Urgent Care Centre to children's ward and he had blood tests and a scan. All came back normal and he was diagnosed with irritable hip (a viral condition which clears up on its own). He is back to being full of beans now.

Hope that you get some answers soon

I thought irritable hip (or transient synovitis) too. It is a post-viral phenomenon, nothing to worry about and usually goes once the virus has been shaken off.

However - it is a differential diagnosis and other, more serious conditions need to be discounted so keep on at your gp.

It is most common in boys over 4 but DD had it when she was 1.

And lastly, even though it usually only lasts a day or two, it can last longer. My DD had it for over 2 months, had blood tests, X-rays, CT scans, the lot. Nothing showed up except slightly raised CRP in bloods (normal in a viral child I understand). Then all of a sudden - literally overnight - it disappeared.

My theory is that Dd just had virus after virus after virus, and relapse after relapse.

I hope it's nothing for your Dd too. I just wanted to make you aware that even though it may not fit the usual irritable hip pattern it could still be that.

I hadn't thought about irritable hip.
We have an appointment tomorrow morning at 9.30.
I think the most concerning thing is the enlarged liver. She has slept about 3 hours every afternoon this week as well as 12 hours at night. Eek!

Has she got any more bruises that aren't going away or any tiny pin prick like red dots? Or bleeding excessively from small cuts or nosebleeds? I'm guessing her lack of appetite is due to her liver being enlarged, the poor thing Sad

Sending you lots of love and calming vibes. The Dr will sort your DD out tomorrow. Please dont google and concentrate on being positive xx

Just back from the hospital. The GP sent us there straight from the appointment and everything just took soooo long. They put a canular in and took blood samples. Everything came back clear, but it looks like a urine infection!!!! They dipped urine which showed something up but they sent it to the lab to get it checked. The pediatric doctor felt her glands and tummy and said that they were up, but they've put it down to post viral.
We have to go back in 6 weeks to see them again just to make sure that she is getting better. What a relief!!!!
