Broken thumb ?

My 16 year old has trapped her thumb in the door , right on her bone. She is complaining of it hurting badly , and of numbness and stiffness . I'm not sure if its worth the long wait in A@E, but don't want to leave it . Thanks .

Can she move it? It doesn't look swollen.

No she can't , and when she does she is in extreme agony and can feel it grinding and clicking . It has gotten more swollen today .

Have you got a minor injuries near you?

user1493584179 · 08/07/2017 12:15

No we don't , we have a A@E near but not sure if it's worth the wait . Since this she hasn't been eating much either , maybe because of shock.

It happened last night and you're still mulling over A&E? Just go! Saturday daytime will be less of a wait than Friday night.

You know her best, trust your gut. If she is in heaps of pain & cant move it, don't worry about going.

user1493584179 · 08/07/2017 12:26

Okay thanks for the advice .

How did she get on?

jacketej · 08/07/2017 16:12

My SS did this looked exactly the same and he fractured the bone between his thumb and hand.
No sport for 10 weeks, needed physio and had a pot. Looks the same to me!
