Tummy bug after chicken pox?

I posted a couple of weeks ago re: DD(7) and chicken pox. She's been in the mend from that, just at the stage the spots/ scabs are slowly fading away. Now we are looking at a stomach bug but I'm just concerned it could be an after effect of the chicken pox? I was freaking myself out last night on Dr Google.

Last night she started vomiting about 8pm. My mum had taken her to McDonald's for tea earlier and I was blaming the mcflurry (I'm always wary of soft whipped icecream as it's notorious for making people ill). Anyway vomiting continued every 20 minutes until about 4am. She couldn't keep down water and it was just bile she was bringing up. She's had a couple of bouts of diarrhoea through the night as well. I was checking her temperature all night and it was normal so no fever.

No sickness today so far and she's asleep again just now. I suspect more diarrhoea to come as she's farting away in her sleep and the smell would knock out an elephant!

Anyway not sure if there is any reason to see a Dr. The NHS website says that you should see a Dr if vomiting after chicken pox (I think it's the meningitis complication risk). She's got all the earmarks of a tummy bug rather than anything more serious- on the list of symptoms she only has the vomiting. I'm reluctant to drag her out of bed, make her put on clothes and take her to a Dr where she could further infect people in the waiting room. I'm just concerned as all the stuff I was reading last night, all the children showed complications around 20 days after the start of the chicken pox - she started chicken pox 21 days ago so she is in that time frame.

So what to do? Has anyone else been through something similar?

Two of mine had the same thing.

As vomiting/nausea and malaise were the only symptoms, I put it down to either a post viral reaction, or coincidence.

They do tend to get pukey with colds etc. though.

They were absolutely fine after a couple of days, which I was relieved about, as they do tend to get the bad end of viruses and things.

It's awful isn't it Phosphorus. The chicken pox knocks it out of them and just when you think they are getting back to normal they are ill again.Thankfully DD isn't a child that vomits a lot, she tends to get a high temperature and sleep when she is ill. It's just with this being the third round of chicken pox she's had, followed by this I'm now starting to worry her immune system isn't up to scratch.

She woke up crying about 1/2 an hour ago and saying she's hot and her ear hurts. Her temp had raised to 38.2 so I've give her some calpol. Shes had another bout of diarrhoea but not as bad as last nights.

She's had an Ella's kitchen pouch (the red fruit one) and a drink of water as she was saying she was really hungry and thirsty. I didn't want to give her anything too heavy - she's asking for a banana so will give her one too and see how that goes.

It's her immune system and body being totally exhausted from CP. Mine had the same, I had to take him back to the doctors because he wasn't himself for two weeks after getting over it. My doctor said it jst takes time and rest, it's drummed into us to get our kids up and running again as normal as soon as all thier spots have scabbed over when in reality going through the chicken pox virus is really quite catastrophic to thier little bodies. Hope she gets better soon.

Btw. I'd take her to the docs if her ear is hurting, I wouldn't risk leaving a dodgy ear.

If he eat still hurts today, take her to out of hours. She may have an ear infection as a result of the pox (ear infections can often come at the end of various illnesses) and ear problems can make you vomit.
