I've been giving my 7 yo son the boots antihistamine syrup, today it doesn't seemed like it's worked. He was constantly sneezing, basically full of snot today. Is it possible to develop immunity to it? if so what should i do?

Maybe it is not an allergy but a cold?

Not a Doctor but best guess. See a Pharmacist for advice.

If that antihistamine isnt working then there are other types you can try (e.g loratadine, cetirazine), maybe speak to the pharmacist. When did you give him it? Best done before exposure to the allergen if you can. Has he has a shower and washed his face etc to get any remaining pollen off?

I gave him one in the morning when he woke up which didn't work and another 4 hours later before we left the house. I will try the ones you spray up the nose see if it helps. I dropped him off at his dad's after, he did say he was ok when i messaged him late last night.

Just may very bad hay fever. My dd can't go in grass this time of year as he becomes very ill despite a Antihistimine. We have to treat his allergy like any other serious and minimize his exposure. Make sure you shower him down, close all windows etc. Some children have to take steroids to damp down their response. Eye drops can be good prescribed by GP.

it needs to build up in the system before is works well.
it needs to be taken 2 weeks every day BEFORE the hay fever kicks in.
make note on diary for next year!
we tend to give at night to minimise the sleep side effects.
when son was small we showered after coming home from school to remove pollen.
He wore sunglasses and hat to keep as much pollen off face.
He was prescribed nasel sprays and eye drops from age 2 and still as an adult uses them.

Windows shut in evenings. bedding NEVER ( or clothes) on washing line.

Good luck, its grim.
