Really hoping that someone can help as the situation is getting very bad. My daughter suffered from hayfever last year - not bad but it was accompanied with frequent, profuse nosebleeds that took hours to stop. This year she has very bad hayfever symptoms. What she has been treated with doesn't seem to be doing much; can anyone pleases advise what to do for improvement?
Pre GP I was giving piriton which has some mild improvement. The GP then prescribed Loratadine - 10 ml once-a-day. Have been using for 10 days and may have had mild improvement but did not help eyes/nose. This GP said any additional eye drops or nose sprays were unhelpful and just gave us the loratadine.
She soldiered on and we saw different GP a few days ago. She prescribed Telfast tablets (fexofenadine hydrochloride) one tablet twice a day, an aqueous nasal spray (flizonase) and sodium cromoglicate 2% eyedrops. Again not much improvement and now she has two tiny little red pinpricks for eyes and can just about breathe through her nose.
Are there are standard treatment regimes for this so that when one doesn't work the doctor tries the next because we are at the stage stage where my daughter can't sit at a desk at school and I am worried the school is going to ask for her to go home. Can anyone please suggest different medicine? treatment? Would something like prevalin allergy spray help and can I just add this to the above regime? I'm really hoping someone has found something that helped. Also are there experts in this - can you be referred to allergy testing and any event will that actually help with treatment?
Thanks very much
