2 year old DS is waiting to see paediatrician next month due to being constantly ill every month with various infections sometimes 3 at one time and seizures, currently he's been suffering from a cough which is constant every month goes away then comes back some times, however this time he has coarse crackles within chest and grunting noises and has been put on steroids for 5 days and antibiotics, the GP couldn't confirm what's caused it, he only started the meds on Monday but the crackles are getting louder each day and even after he coughs they are still there, he's not had an x-ray to confirm what's causing this, my gut instinct is telling me he should, has anyone went through similar circumstances

I agree, he sounds like he does need an x-ray to see if he has an infection in the lungs or something of the sort.

Does he have a fever? Feeling tired and sluggish?

My DD had many bouts of pneumonia but amoxicillin wouldn't work. Didn't help that she had asthma either but definitely get a x-ray.

If he does have a fever, feels sluggish, wheezes, has the chills.. might be worth seeing an OOH doctor

He's not got fever at moment but due to him having so much different types infections including pneumonia in the past he's had numerous seizures febrile convulsions so he's at high risk of taking one at any time, when he had pneumonia the last time the exact steroids and amoxicillin wasn't helping that he deteriorated so got given different ones, at moment no fever or being sick but he's always tired any time he has a bit energy he gets drained quick coughing fits etc, he's already on a blue inhaler was given that as a precaution to help his airways and monkulast granules buts he's not got rid of this cough that he's had from April, now he's got this bad again, he already had his adenoids removed in January due to infections, will be getting him checked tomorrow demanding an X-ray

Poor boy Flowers

Hopefully he gets a thorough investigation. It really can't be nice for him

It isn't easy to X-ray a tiny child , the paed might order one when you see him or her.
If he is deteriorating the paediatrician appt might be able to be expedited or your doctor might be in a position to email/ phone the on call paed for advice...
See what GP thinks
