My DD received the 4-in-1 pre school booster yesterday and this is how her arm looks.

I'm not sure, but it looks sore, you could call 111?

Yes, some kids react like this. Give some antihistamine and simple moisturiser to cool the skin.

Is it also hot and swollen?

This happened to my dd many years ago, but I googled it just before I packed us all into the car to go to a&e and it was all normal. I drew a line in marker around the heat/swelling, it gradually reduced but it was well over a week before it went back to normal!

Is it normal for the redness and the swollen to be that big?.

Dds would have been 1/2 to 2/3 of her arm from elbow to shoulder. It was so hot you could melt an ice cube.

Seriously scared me though, I couldn't believe it was considered normal!

Thank you everyone. She won't let me touch the area so I can't even apply cold compress on it. She's has a fever and labored breathing.

Laboured breathing means you must seek immediate help.

I know most of you said it's normal but her arm is rock hard and she just fell asleep and she's moving and moaning.

Ilhj I was once told by a doctor that laboured breathing is normal if the child has a fever?

Oh bless her - looks sore. With additional symptoms I would be seeking medical advice.

Take her to an out of hours GP from what your saying it doesn't seem right at all

Yes, dds was rock hard also. But yes, if you're worried ring nhs direct. It's useful to draw a marker around the swelling/heat to see if it's getting bigger or smaller.

Ring 111 but honestly with her being so little and anything to do with they're breathing not being normal I'd take them to get seen by someone straight away.

I'm only worried because I can't remember her reacting like this to the other vaccines and she had them all.

She's not as bad as last night the fever is gone but she's clingy and crying over everything. Arm still red and swollen.

i react to all vaccination like this swolle hard red, hot lump
so the arm wouldn't bother me.

But the distress and laboured breating would.

I would give calpol, and if that helped keep her doses up for a couple of days until it settles.

If the calpol doesn't help, then call your GP

The laboured breathing is at night which is when she gets the fever. I've been giving her nurofen 5mls.
