Has anyone any experience of a baby getting their adenoids out? My 11 month old is due an operation soon. We aren't 100% sure it is tjese that are the problem (should I insist on an X-ray?) antibiotics help the breathing problems she's been having but she can't be on these long term.

I should add she had a procedure to look down her airways and all was fine except they said there was a bit of adenoidal tissue there. But she was well then and they think they are enlarging and shrinking with each infection.

Yes we got it done at 11mo, adenoids and grommets. It was easy day surgery
In hindsight though I would have put him on gluten and dairy free diet which actually did fix our problem later - adenoids did come back shortly after and his tube fell out so only the actual solution for us was a diet change. Certain food is the usual culprit for ENT issues

If I were you I'd give it a try for couple of weeks

Good luck x

Thank you. Gosh I didn't know adenoids could regrow!

She started getting issues at 4 months before she was weaned so I'm not sure about food being the culprit - she was exclusively breastfed for first 5.5 months and I didn't change my diet from when she didn't have issues to when she did (after an infection)

Glad your lo sorted now

Yes mine was breastfed till recently 2.5 and I was gluten free dairy free for all this time. Every time I dared to eat something like this he wouldn't sleep all night , he wasn't able to breath. We didn't get this straight away either, sometimes these allergic reactions develop later
You could try if you wanted to just for few days even and I mean even you restrciting your diet. Some key ENTs suggest removing dairy as the first step. Possibly better than going straight for op

Good luck whatever you decide to do x

Interesting - I will try for a few days then and see if any difference. Thanks
