My two-year-old son has had this rash five times in the last eight months it starts off as a skin coloured rash and progresses to be red and then purple which do not blanch when pressed. However the whole rash disappears within a week. He does not appear to be ill otherwise. The GP has no idea what it is. This time the rash is in it's usual place on his forehead although he has a few on his arm and a few under his chin and on his scalp.

Also have a look at Dermatitis Herpetiformis www.coeliac.org.uk/document-library/133-dermatitis-herpetiformis-dh/dh-web.pdf
It says it's mainly adults who get it but my boys 3 and 5 at the time both had similar rashes. It was itchy and blistery and left dark red marks which took a while to fade. This was before being diagnosed with coeliac disease. They haven't had the rashes since diagnosis and going gluten free. I hope you get to the bottom of it. We could not work it out at the time.
