Blistered armpit?!

My 6 year old daughter has these ulcer/blisters appearing in her armpit. She's had chicken pox before so not that. She's not used any new cream or spray etc. No clothes have rubbed. Any ideas what is it? We took her to the dr and he said he didn't know! Helpful!

You can have chicken pox a number of times.

It's not itchy and doesn't look quite like it. But perhaps x

Could be eczema? Not an acceptable response from the Dr, ring and get another appt with a different doctor! I have unfortunately had chicken pox twice now... Grrr

Children can get shingles. DD had it age 5 in reception. Apparently it is more common if they had chicken pox very early, Eg before around 1.

It might be impetigo. I had this on my armpit once. It starts as blisters which eventually develop a crusty scab on top (sounds gross I know!). If it is this it's quite contagious, we were warned not to share towels and to wash bedding on a hot wash. A tube of Fucidin from the gp cleared it up quickly, maybe a try and see another gp?

mycavitiesareempty · 11/05/2017 22:38

All 3 gps at our surgery came in for a squizz mind so maybe it isn't that common

Should also say DD was very well throughout her bout and only missed school because the lesions were in a'n exposed place and her friend was severely immunosuppressed.

Doesn't bubonic plague start with blisters/boils under the armpit?

mycavitiesareempty · 11/05/2017 22:42

Yeah that'll be it Grin

Probably molluscum. If so it isn't treated and it can take 12-18 months to clear up. Not harmful.

Mild Staph infection
