Would you go to the GP for this?

A few weeks ago 6mo DS was prescribed 10 days of antibiotics for infected eczema. They seem to have completely ruined his stomach. It's been 10 days since he finished and his poos are still frequent, very loose, irritating his skin a lot, and generally grey or beige in colour. Before this he pooed once a day with normal baby consistency.

Is it worth seeing the GP about it, or give it longer to get better?

Can you get a phone appointment, with the GP or nurse? Maybe try that. Or ask pharmacist as they'd know about the antibiotic and side effects. But yeah, if you've tried those options then I'd go back to the GP. In the mean time I might give a yogurt or probiotic or something.
Hope you LO gets better soon

Probiotics are great. I use abidec and order them from amazon. They can help balance the stomach after ABs. I also use them when they start with anything viral.

When my child was on antibiotics, the doctor also recommended probiotics at the same time for ten days. It was a small powder sachet that you sprinkled into milk or food. He did have a few nasty nappies giving him a bit of a burn and yeast infection so they aren't a guarantee but perhaps it would have been worse without them. If it is nearly two weeks since he finished the course and it is still going on, I would think it worth a phone call to the doctor to check what they suggest.

Antibiotics are blunt weapons and kill beneficial bacteria in the gut as well as the 'bad' ones we want to treat so GI upset is really common after antibiotics, particularly in children.

Yy to probiotics.
Also speak to your GP, submit a stool sample to be sent for culture to rule out an specific problems.
Keep him on a bland diet, make sure he drinks plenty, use industrial supplies of nappy/barrier creams and change him frequently (stating the obvious - sorry). Tepid baths with v gentle washing of the bottom and NO rubbing to dry him: pat him dry gentle and use a hair dryer on a cool setting to dry his skin properly.

Thanks. I started p robiotics a few days ago with no noticeable improvement. If it's still there Friday morning I'll ring to talk to a GP
